Deniz Kaya on Cisco® Advanced Security Specialization Update
|New Courses and Exams for Cisco Partners with Advanced Security Specialization
The Cisco® Advanced Security Specialization has been updated to incorporate Cisco IronPort® Web Security solutions. These solutions provide significant opportunities for partners to expand their network security portfolio offerings and enjoy discounts through new and existing distribution channels – with only minimal incremental investment. New training courses and updates are now available through Ironport ATPs.
Starting August 15, all partners pursuing Cisco Advanced Security Specialization are required to pass the new exams.
Deniz, you’ve been working with Cisco and Ironport for many years. Can you tell us why Cisco has decided to make this move and integrate Web Security?
Deniz:In the last three years Internet based attacks have moved significantly from email to web platform. After acquiring Ironport in late 2007 Cisco has successfully fulfilled a gap in their product portfolio. For the last two years, Ironport development team has been working intensively on the web appliance.
As a result they have made a huge progress from the technical perspective. Now, the web appliance is ready to take over some tasks from Cisco.
ASA and IPS appliances like DPI (Deep Packet Inspection), besides URL filtering, WEB proxy and authentication are choke point which most Cisco customers were depending on 3rd party solutions.
What has changed during the last year?
Deniz: Now the appliance is working with its version 7. This has brought a lot of new functionalities like application recognition, new DLP (Data Loss Prevention) features and many more.
What will be the benefit for Cisco customers?
Deniz: The biggest benefit for customers will be the Unified Cisco Infrastructure which will help them manage and monitor IT Security events and give responses quickly and correctly.
How can New Horizons help Cisco partners?
